Lodging

Hotel MayflowerThe conference hotel, which also serves as the venue for all technical sessions, is the Renaissance Mayflower Hotel in downtown Washington DC. Situated in the heart of the business district within several city blocks of the White House and the National Mall, this historic hotel in Dupont Circle offers an elegant and historic aura combined with an abundance of modern conveniences courtesy of a recent $11 million luxury restoration project. Conference attendees and their guests may dine at the hotel's newly renovated Cafe Promenade & Lounge, or enjoy the close proximity to dozens of restaurants within easy walking distance. Also nearby are many major attractions such as national monuments, internationally renowned museums, and major federal government facilities.

Hotel MayflowerIt is highly recommended that you make your lodging reservations early as the PPC2009 rate for the entire room block at the Mayflower during the conference is at the prevailing government per diem rate. For reservations during the dates of the conference you may click on the link below. The conference lodging rate may also be available for the weekend before or after the conference, but you must call the hotel directly to check availability and include those dates in your reservation. Please use the conference room block code “ieeieea” when making your arrangements.

Transportation

The Washington DC area is serviced by numerous transportation systems. Three airports provide multiple options for national and international carriers. Reagan National Airport (DCA) is only 5 miles away and offers access to the hotel via the Washington DC subway system, called the Metro. There are several Metro stops in close proximity to the Mayflower, the closest being Farragut North Station on the Red Line, which can be accessed via an entrance one block south of the hotel.

Other airport options include Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) 25 miles away and Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) 55 miles away. There are no hotel shuttle or subway services from these airports, so a rental car or taxi cab ride will be necessary. Transport time to/from the hotel and these airports can be heavily influenced by the high level of traffic congestion during the DC area morning and evening “rush” hours, so plan extra time accordingly if traveling during these timeframes.
