Student Travel Grants

PPC2011 will award a limited number of travel grants, typically $750 each, to encourage graduate students of all nationalities to attend the conference. An applicant must be an IEEE member and an author/co-author of at least one paper to be presented at the conference by the student.

In addition, the criteria for selection will be based on the student's accomplishments, level of participation in the conference, and individual need relative to the expected travel costs. Students who wish to be considered for a travel grant should submit a complete nomination package consisting of:

  1. Copy of submitted abstract(s) on which they are listed as an author.
  2. Proposed budget for travel to the conference. Cost sharing with the student's institution is encouraged and should be indicated in the nomination package.
  3. A brief summary of the student's research contributions, with most recent references if published (limited to 5 conference or journal papers and not more than 1/2 page in length).
  4. A summary of the student's educational accomplishments, including awards, recognition, GPA, etc (no more than 1 page cv or resume).
  5. One letter of recommendation, preferably from the student's academic adviser, stating the significance of research to be presented.

In addition, proof of IEEE membership must be provided at or prior to the conference if a student is selected for a grant award.

Please submit nomination packages no later than March 30, 2011 to the Student Travel Grants Chair: Mr. Roger White, roger.x.white@L-3com.com.

Recipients will be notified by April 30, 2011 and will receive a monetary grant to be applied to the cost of attendance. The grants, distributed by check, will be presented to the recipients at the conference. Note that recipients must provide the treasurer of PPC2011 with a valid social security or tax ID number for tax reporting purposes prior to the receipt of funds.
